My core thesis:

the cost of building and maintaining trust is inversely proportional to value-aligment

There is a cost of building and maintaining trust. We are often unaware of this.

If my values are aligned with you, we will find it easier to build and maintain that trust.

Compounding

Trust in a value-aligned relationship compounds whereas if two people hold conflicting values, they would need a lot of reinforcement for trust to even remain at the same level.

While this is just a thesis, we can see this in action anecdotally.

I may not meet my school friends for a decade, but when we do, it will feel like the trust and bond has grown rather than diminished.
